The Perfect Hideaway – a garden cabin retreat!

The Perfect Hideaway – a garden cabin retreat! This was created for a businessman in the garden of his home in the Surrey Hills. After working from home during Lockdown our client decided to build a garden cabin retreat. A space to escape to at the end of a working day, somewhere he could relax.

The brief included a seating area, a gym corner, a small kitchen and a spacious external deck. Lighting was important and the colour scheme complemented the colours of the garden.  When Lockdown restrictions eased we were able to set to work on the project.

The garden cabin retreat is 4m x 7m with a deck area to the front. There are 2 large glass double doors to maximise the views on to the garden. The interior is decorated in colours to complement the garden but also enhance the structure of the wooden cabin. There is a mezzanine on one side accessed by a ladder. Underneath is a kitchenette and a small wash room with an organic toilet. At the other end is a gym corner with punch bag and treadmill. The treadmill can be folded out of the way when not in use. Under floor heating and air-conditioning have been installed so that the garden cabin retreat can be used all year round. Unique furniture items were sourced such as the fire hydrant side table and the cart coffee table. The beamed ceiling is illuminated with spotlights. There are interesting wall lights and floor lamps to give depth of lighting throughout.
